This was going to be a post about incandescent bulbs, like this one which I had to replace in my son's car yesterday, but while I was photographing it in the evening sunlight I received a text message to let me know that a family friend had died suddenly. By pure coincidence, this afternoon I'd stumbled across a track in my iTunes music library and decided to sync it to my phone for a trip I'm starting tomorrow. It's Felix Dennis reading his poem Never Go Back, when he was the guest on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs in 2007. I remember having to wait impatiently for the episode to be repeated a few days later so that I could record it, such was the effect it had on me. Now all you need to do to listen to it is to click here. "Treat every day of your life as your last." RIP Gordon.
