I was lucky enough to be on the east coast of Scotland near Edinburgh this morning at the time of the partial solar eclipse.  Unlike most of England, the sky there was clear but because I wasn't travelling with anything better than my point-and-shoot camera, photographing the sun was a bit of a challenge.  I rigged up some tinfoil on the window of my father's front room and made a pinhole in it so that we could watch the spectacle together as the image of the sun's disc tracked across the wall.  Apparently it's International Day of Happiness today, so it was especially apt that the weather defied convention and allowed the sun to smile on us.  Shine!
