TOY STORY

At the beginning of last month I wrote a blog post about the Thames Group of Artists, a group of 13 artists (of course) and creatives who collaborated on an installation which is being exhibited in galleries along the Thames and its estuary.  Earlier this week I visited the studio of Simon Monk, one of those artists, to take a photograph for my 500 portraits project (which at its current rate will take years to complete if I don't start devoting more time to it).  The subjects of Simon's most recent project are plastic toys, painted with what I can only describe as painstaking care, and the results are almost lifelike, although that's probably not the best adjective to describe them.  Please read what Simon himself has written about his work, at simonmonk.com.
