WHAT IS THE ANSWER?

Another musical excursion last night, this time to the iTunes festival at the Roundhouse in Camden.  In the century before last, horses below ground level hauled around a turntable for railway locomotives in the shed above, no doubt with almost as many full beards in evidence then as now.  Apparently the band took their name from "the loveliest word in the English language" according to a character in Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective, but who are they?  The clues are all there.
