LIVE LONG AND PROSPER

For my final post of the year I thought I'd send out a goodwill message with this image from another wedding shoot a few days ago.  The reception took place in an enormous marquee filled with everything I expected for such an occasion, and a life-size (if somewhat pixellated) cardboard cutout of Mr Spock, which I didn't.  If, like me (and the bride and groom, apparently) you're a fan of Star Trek TOS, you probably already know that Spock's famous Vulcan salute is a representation of the Aramaic/Hebrew letter Shin, and was suggested by Leonard Nimoy himself to the director Joseph Pevney during the filming of the second season opening episode Amok Time.  And if you didn't, I hope you found that ... fascinating.
