I dropped in to see a photographer friend of mine yesterday afternoon to catch up about this and that, and was amazed to find - on a freezing cold day in December - this butterfly which had come to the end of its life and lay on his dining room table. I'd been shooting corporate portraits earlier in the day and had with me only the equipment I needed for that session, so I was sorry I didn't have a macro lens to capture the intricate detail of this beautiful creature. I think it deserved the few minutes it took me to make this photograph so that it can now fly around the world at the speed of light.
