Back to the Photographers' Gallery in Soho last night, partly to see the videowall animation of cat photos from the web (highly recommended), but also to visit an exhibition of images taken automatically in shooting galleries, where the camera is triggered by the customer's bullet hitting the target (a genre of existential photography). One level was almost filled with photographs of Ria van Dijk, who began this series at the age of 16 and is still hitting the target at 90. Upstairs, visitors have the opportunity to take their own portraits in a photographic portrait gallery. (And I was lucky enough to hit the target with my first shot.) The exhibition runs until 6 January 2013.
